Originally from Korea, John has lived in Papua New Guinea, Australia and the USA in addition to New Zealand and is fluent in both English and Korean. John was admitted to the bar in 2002 and specialises in commercial law involving a variety of commercial transactions including sales and purchases of businesses, leases, commercial property sales and purchases and all types of commercial contracts.
Another area that John specialises is in Immigration Law and he has successfully appealed to the Residence Review Board and the Immigration and Protection Tribunal on innumerable occasions. He handles many different types of residence and work visa applications. John believes in the importance of providing legally sound and yet pragmatic, cost-efficient legal solutions to clients and enjoys the most successful legal outcomes for clients.
Having previously worked in a major Christchurch law firm, John joined Kannangara Thomson as a Partner in 2009 (now KTLaw Limited trading as Kannangara Thomson).
