In 2007, Donna Cherry and Stephen Kannangara set out to create a law firm that would provide services to the whole community. Starting small, but with a vision to a broader offering, they initially specialised in family and property work.
The following year they were joined by Darcy Thomson and Stephen (Steve) Bray with John Yoon joining in 2009 and Brent Selwyn in 2015.
Having expanded the business, Donna left the Practice in 2013 and Darcy in 2015, while after 14 years, Stephen retired, leaving a thriving practice in capable hands.
Since 2007, the firm has grown from three people to the 30 plus strong team we have today which includes, 3 Directors, a number of Lawyers, Legal Executives and our support team. Our area of practice has expanded too beyond the original offering to encompass just about all life’s legal situations including elder law, estate management, trust management and immigration.
In 2023, we made the decision to move the firm from a partnership to a company, but we still hold the same values and same principles we have been operating with since 2007.
On the 1st of October 2023, Fleur McDonald Legal merged with KTLaw bringing across Fleur McDonald who is an expert in the Elder Care field.
On the 10th of September 2024, KTLaw acquired the Practice of Alpers & Co (Northwest Law) following the death of Oscar Alpers.
